The village of Baldwinsville held a congratulatory ceremony for the Baldwinsville Marching Band, who recently participated and took top honors at the New Year's Day Gator Bowl.
Senator John DeFrancisco, Assemblyman William Barclay and Jessica Suranyi (a representative from Assemblyman William Magnarelli's office) each presented the students with an achievement award during the ceremony.
"Winning is wonderful, but more importantly its making sure your represent your community and school district and that's why I'm most proud of you," said Mayor Dan O'Hara. "The name Baldwinsville is all up and down the East coast."
VB passes no truck parking law
A public hearing regarding a no truck-parking zone on Brickyard Road between Route 173 and Canton Street was held Jan. 16 at the Van Buren Town Hall. Officials voted in favor of the local law that states vehicles weighing more than 18,000 pounds may not park alongside the road.
Cars are still permitted to park on Brickyard Road.
SU students visit former Harrington site
Village officials welcomed 17 visitors to the site of the former Harrington Fire Station on Jan. 17.
The visitors were students of Peter Crissi, a professional architect and professor st Syracuse University. As a class project, the students will design sketches of the Harrington site that may potentially be implemented once the site is cleared.
According to Trustee Joe Saraceni, the designs should be ready within one to three weeks.
A public hearing regarding the community development plan in Lysander will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Lysander Town Hall at 8220 Loop Road in Radisson.
