Lauren Masucci and her parents Jeannine and Michael are celebrating a successful 11-year run this year with Manlius Jewelry and Repair. Family-owned and operated, the store now thrives in Kinloch Commons after making a recent move from Manlius Mart where it first began in 1996.
For some, working with family can be difficult, but for Lauren it's a gem.
"I know I'm working with people I trust," she said.
Sales skyrocket around Christmas, their busiest time of the year.
Popular items include diamonds, colored stones, pearls and sterling silver that range from really inexpensive to designer quality.
Their repair service is a value for customers, too, correcting anything from costume jewelry to ring sizes to broken chains.
Customizing jewelry remains close to Lauren's heart.
"That's my forte," she said.
She earned her degree in Graphic Arts from Onondaga Community College.
The Masucci mascot
A friendly French bulldog and adored addition to the family contributes to the business as well. Expect to be greeted by Reba, donned with a string of pearls (faux, of course) around her neck. She remains the quiet partner in the family.
Store hours: Tues. through Fri.: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Sat: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
