When working on vintage instruments, Eibert makes authentic reproductions of parts that are no longer available. Building and repairing stringed instruments is no small task. One standard guitar takes Eibert approximately 120 to 140 hours to build. If a customer requests a special design or art work, it could take longer. One guitar Eibert put together for local meteorologist Dave Eichorn demanded a lot of man hours.
It's a little known fact but Eichorn is an avid guitar player and the heir to a collection of many rare woods.
"His musical mentor left him his collection of specialty woods from around the world. I met with Dave one day and he mentioned it would be great to have a guitar made from some of the wood," Eibert said. "I picked out the wood I wanted to use and that is what I made him a guitar.
Eibert personalized the guitar right down to the last detail, which included lightning bolts and storm clouds inlayed on the guitar head.
