Animal Planet features Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament
Syracuse's own world class sporthorse competition will be featured on Animal Planet at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 with the premiere of the Animal Planet Sporthorse Cup II. Each year, top show jumping riders from around the US and around the world (including Cazenovia's Beezie Madden) converge on Syracuse for the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament. But it's only the seven best riders at the Tournament that qualify to compete for the Animal Planet Sporthorse Cup, a unique three-phase competition that tests speed, power and overall skill. The thrill, danger, skill and beauty of top level show jumping is brought to television through Animal Planet's signature behind-the-scenes and in-depth style.
Syracuse has something special in its Sporthorse Tournament, and Animal Planet is excited to share the Animal Planet Sporthorse Cup II with horse lovers and sports lovers around the country," says Animal Planet's Senior Vice President of Marketing, Vicki Lowell.
"We have a wonderful partner in Animal Planet," says Tournament organizer John Madden of Cazenovia. "It's great to be able to share this Central New York event and the thrill of show jumping with the millions of Animal Planet viewers around the world."
Each fall the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament welcomes the top-ranked equestrians from across the US and the world to downtown Syracuse to compete at the War Memorial Arena in the Oncenter Complex. Beginning Oct. 31 and running through Nov. 4, the 2007 event will feature a full slate of high-level competition, entertainment, shopping and exhibitions. A 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, the Syracuse Invitational benefits Cornell University Equine Hospital and Vera House. More information is available at syracuseinvitational.com.
