Get ready to enjoy the winter weather.
The Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce will present B'ville's Big Chill Friday Jan. 25 and Saturday Jan. 26. With a semi formal, breakfast, snowman contest, polar bear plunge, games and more, this family event is sure to have something for everyone.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of CNY, Cystic Fibrosis and Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce.
A Snow Ball semi formal will be held from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday Jan. 25 at Mohegan Manor. The event will include hors d'oeuvres, an art auction, dessert, coffee and musical entertainment provided by Brass Inc., an eight-member group that will keep you moving on the dance floor with a variety of horns.
Snow Ball tickets are on sale now at the Chamber office at 12 Oswego St. (638-0550), Mohegan Manor at 58 Oswego St. (857-0079 -- a credit card option is available at Mohegan Manor) or Shamballa Caf (c) and Coffee Roasters at 34 Oswego St. for $35 each or $50 a couple. There is a 300-ticket limit, so get yours quickly.
A starlight package (value $300) will also be raffled off compliments of Mohegan Manor and Wingate Inn. The package includes a five-course dinner for two, bottle of wine in the ballroom under the stars by candlelight and overnight stay at Wingate Inn with transportation provided to and from the hotel.
Start the morning right with a winter breakfast held from 8 to 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.
Continue the celebration at Mercer Park beginning at 1 p.m. with various activities. The snowman finalist contest will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., the chili cook-off will be held at 2 p.m. and the polar bear plunge will be held at 3:15 p.m. Those interested in participating in the polar bear event should register between 1 and 3 p.m. with a minimum $100 sponsorship. After taking (or watching) the plunge, participants can enjoy the warmth of a bonfire. The event will conclude at 6 p.m. with a fireworks display.
