Building community and cooperation, the Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce will once again team up with the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce to hold the eighth annual Baldwinsville/Liverpool Golf Outing.
"This event gives everyone an opportunity to become more acquainted with the neighboring community," said Lee Wilder, executive director of the GBCC. "We use this as another tool in networking and finding out the needs of our neighbors and to share a few laughs, as well."
The annual event will begin with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Thursday Sept. 13 at Foxfire at Village Green, 1 Village Blvd. in Baldwinsville off of Van Buren Road. With a captain and crew format, the event is open to the public, but one member of the foursome must be a member of the chamber in order to participate in the golf outing.
"The more participation we have, the better," Wilder said, adding that in addition to annual dues, the tournament is one of the few fundraising events that helps to sustain the GBCC, which in turn builds the community.
"It's always about opening more doors," Wilder said. "We bring new business into our area and vise versa. We all prosper."
On behalf of the chamber, Wilder also thanked Jack Baker, who has been chairman of the event since it began eight years ago.
The $85 per person registration fee includes greens fees, cart, lunch, dinner and beverages. In addition to teams, event coordinators are also looking for event sponsors. Teams and sponsors should register no later than Wednesday Sept. 5.
The GBCC is located at 12 Oswego St. in the village of Baldwinsville. For more information on the golf tournament, call the GBCC at 638-0550.
