The room was filled with supporters.
Friends, colleagues and constituents of Onondaga County Legislator Richard Lesniak were all present for his Aug. 20 re-election kick-off party at Mohegan Manor.
Lesniak was appointed to the legislature earlier this year after former Legislator Sandy Baker resigned. Endorsed by the Republican Party, Lesniak represents the first district (Lysander and Clay) and had formerly been appointed and elected to the legislature in 1999. Due to employment constraints, Lesniak resigned from the position at the time, then served on the Lysander town board as a councilor.
A similar reception was held for Judge Claire Rutherford Aug. 15 at the Fireside Inn to kick off her Lysander town justice campaign. She is up for re-election to an eighth term for Lysander town justice. Endorsed by the Republican, Conservative and Independence parties, Judge Rutherford is a Republican being challenged in a primary for all three lines by Democrat Charles Mantione Jr.
Many including family, friends and colleagues were present to show their support. Judge Rutherford, a life long resident of Lysander, was thankful for the huge support from the community and to be able to start the campaign with her entire family at her side.
