B'ville: Giving back to nature

"We like to keep the bottom line down," Pfanenstiel said

The price is $15 advance registration for the 5K and 10K. The half-mile youth run is $2 and the one-mile fun walk has a suggested $2 donation. Registration begins at 8 a.m. the day of the event and is $20 for the 5K and 10K.

Proceeds from the run will be added to the renovation fund at Beaver Lake.

"With the fundraising, we have reached our original goal of $400,000," Pfanenstiel said of donations, fulfilled pledges and events held at Beaver Lake throughout the year including the run, the Harvest Festival and the annual pancake breakfasts.

He added that the center is always growing and that the Friends plan to use money raised from the run for future exhibits, programs and classes at the center.

"A lot of what the money goes to is for programs for the kids and the whole aspect of teaching kids about nature," he said.

For more information about the run, call 638-2519. Beaver Lake Nature Center is four miles west of Baldwinsville off Route 370.
