On Saturday Aug. 4 the Otisco Lake Community, along with Cornell Cooperative Extention of Onondaga County, the Martisco Lions Club and the Otisco Lake Community Center, are presenting day-long activities nicknamed "Oh What A Day, Oh What A Night."

Featured will be an all day 18-mile garage sale which starts at Route 20 and Route 174 and goes south down Otisco Valley Road and ends in Preble.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first-ever Otisco Lake Scavenger Hunt will take place at Otisco Lake Park on Otisco Valley Road in Marietta. The event is hosted by CCE of Onondaga County. This is a great opportunity for families or friends to sign up as teams and work together to find hidden objects around the lake. Individuals may sign up also. Teams (or individuals) win points for each item they find. Top scores win prizes which will be awarded later in the day at the Otisco Lake Community Center on Amber Road in Marietta. Register today by calling Kelly Somerlot at 424-9485.

The day's events continue with an old photo and memorabilia exhibit at the Community Center, 2223 Amber Road from 2 to 4 p.m. Every year people bring old photos, newspaper clippings and all sorts of interesting items from as far back as the early 1800s. Contact Dave Kronen at 636-8554 if you would like more information.

The awards ceremony for the scavenger hunt winners will include hot dogs, soda and chips , and maybe a few surprises.

Ending the day's events on a high note will be a pulled pork and chicken BBQ dinner and a live band from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be raffles, games, crafts and dancing. Fun for all ages. Dinner reservations can be made by calling Katherine Burnett at 449-4928 or Mike Bristol at 383-7932. Check out the band at newdayband.com and then come on down and hear them live!
