The Skaneateles Office Supply offers the opportunity to recycle ink jet cartridges and support the Skaneateles Volunteer Firefighter, all in one.

The Office Supply located in the front of the Byrne Dairy Building (Jordan Street) has collection boxes for empty cartridges. Third generation Central New York Office Supply owner Steve Ianuzi sends these back to his vendors who cut him a check, which he passes directly to the Skaneateles Fire Department.

Ianuzi said the big box retailer may give you cash back for your returns but it isn't the same higher rate of return he receives. He passes the check directly through, resulting in more cash back, benefiting the fire department, which is ultimately a community benefit.

It just so happens the Skaneateles Office Supply's store manager is the one and only Heidi Oney, who is head of the Skaneateles Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. The auxiliary is the backbone support of the fire department, keeping the firefighters supplied with food and good cheer during times of crisis.

Ianuzi said it is Skaneateles Office Supply's service that sets them apart. They lay in a lot of inventory for commercial and home offices and school supplies too, including art supplies.

"We are priced competitively and will bring in any goods you require for your office," he said. "You don't have to leave town for these supplies, you don't even have to leave your house."

Call 685-7740. Also you can order online, Skaneatelesofficesupply.com. There is free delivery and no minimum order. Doing business locally doesn't get any better than this, Ianuzi said.
