Canastota: Fire dep't wants upgrades

Lumbrazo said the light on the flagpole at New Boston and Main streets is not working again.

A sidewalk permit was submitted to replace 100-foot of sidewalk at 133 Chapel St.

Deputy Mayor Scott Rapasadi said many of his neighbors complained of manholes sinking.

"They are marked," Rouse said. "They will be replaced when the weather breaks."


The Central New York Community Foundation is offering a $750 municipality grant to support improvement initiatives in communities, which includes planting community gardens, trees, shrubs, etc.

Rouse read Chris Patane's maintenance plan for landscaping improvements in Clark Park and the overpass area. The plan costs $4,852.


The board approved the following fire department officer installations: Tim Mitchell as chief, Mark Ferriter as first assistant and Bruce Chandler as second assistant.

The board appointed Gary DuBois as a laborer to work at the recreation fields.

The board approved Historian David Sadler's request to attend the state Associations of Public Historians spring conference May 1 in Utica at a cost of $35.

The board approved the clerk/treasurer to issue payment to the village of Clinton in the amount of $8,000 from the sewer capital fund for the purchase of a heat exchanger and generator.

The board approved OCWA's credit of $450 to Gary Heffron for a water leak at his property at 107-109 Barlow St.

The board will meet again May 21.
