Everywhere at Manley Field House, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys indoor track and field team was busy racking up titles at last Wednesday night’s OHSL Colonial National division meet. When all the activity was done, the Northstars had 151 points, nearly twice the number that runner-up Liverpool (84 points) could muster. Jeff Azzoto had multiple victories. In the 600-meter run, he had a time of 1:26.69 to hold off Mike Compson (1:26.91) for that title, and he teamed with Andy Neumeister, James Thurn and Zach Marchese to win the 4×400 relay in 3:37.53. Kevin Cusworth, Jake Whritenour, Nathan MacNabb and Ben Ludovici got together to win the 4×800 relay in 8:27.30. McNabb, on his own, dominated the mile, his time of 4:33.26 more than seven seconds better than the field. CNS nearly swept the relays, but Marchese, Nick Orlando, Devin Young and Mike Fischer had to take second in the 4×200 relay in 1:37.16 as Henninger (1:35.02) won. Andy Kahl rolled to the title in the high jump, clearing 6 feet 4 inches, as Craig Barber earned second in the pole vault with a clearance of 10 feet 6 inches. Dan Minahan got second place in the shot put, tossing it 46 feet 4 1/4 inches. Kahl (41 feet 3 inches) and Neumeister (40 feet 2 inches) were second and third, respectively, in the triple jump, as Orlando got third in the long jump (18 feet 11 1/2 inches) and Ryan Strader took fourth place. Orlando also was fourth in the 55-meter dash in 6.90 seconds as Vincent St. James (6.91 seconds) was fifth. Whirtenour was fourth in the 600 in 1:28.74, with Azzoto fourth in the 300-meter dash in 37.19 seconds. Neumeister finished second in the 55-meter high hurdles (8.39 seconds) as Thurn got third place, in 8.76 seconds.
