Last weekend, thieves broke into the clubhouse at Pearl Lakes Golf Course on Old Seneca Turnpike. Among the items stolen were three sets of golf clubs, a color television, six dozen Slazenger golf balls, several pairs of socks, golf gloves and towels.
The burglars also cleaned out the drink cooler and candy supply, and swiped several hundred dollars in cash. The money represented fees paid by players in Pearl Lakes' fall golf leagues.
Owner Angelo Tozzi said that the culprits forced their way into the building through a side window. They rifled through all the drawers in the office and kitchen and upended garbage cans, leaving debris scattered all over the floor.
Tozzi said that burglary occurred overnight last Saturday. He said local police responded to the scene, took photographs and lifted fingerprints.
Tozzi, a retired Auburn firefighter, and his wife Mary have operated the 9-hole golf course and driving range for the last 10 years. He estimated loss from the incident to be in the $2,000-$3,000 range.
Anyone with knowledge of this incident is encouraged to contact the Skaneateles Police Department.
