Former board member contests village hall

North Syracuse Mayor John Heindorf and a former board member are at odds over the new proposed village hall.

The letter, written by former board member Gary Rainbow, accuses the mayor of needlessly going after a new village hall and spending too much taxpayer dollars. Basically, Rainbow writes, taxpayers would have to pony up too much for the proposed project.

"You mention that the village will get the money from the state grant," Rainbow writes in the article, which ran on Oct. 12 in the Neighbors section of the Syracuse Post Standard. " Only catch is, the taxpayers will have to match 10 percent of the grant. If the village board is awarded $1 million, we have to ante up $100,000."
