Project Lifesaver comes to Onondaga County

The initial fee for the armband will be $275 and a $10 monthly fee will follow. The monthly fee is in place to change the battery once a month.

"Someone comes right to your home to change the battery." Boshart said.

Undersheriff Warren Darby has been an integral part starting this service in Onondaga County; he will be heading up the deputies assigned to Project Lifesaver.

"This is a great way to ensure the safety of individuals who may wonder off especially with the harsh winters we have here," Seargeant John D'Eredita said. "The program has been proven successful in other areas. We will be training at least 12 deputies specifically for this program as well as three members of our helicopter crew."

For more information, call Undersheriff Warren Darby at 435-3050 or Ruth Boshart at 487-2680.
