Officials discuss future changes for Radisson PUD
After receiving a couple of requests for land use changes in the Radisson planned unit development, Lysander officials engaged in a discussion regarding the overall plan for the PUD.
As the existing land for residences diminishes, developers are looking to parcels with different land uses for possible residential developments. Matters regarding a land use change to allow for senior housing in an industrial PUD were discussed, as well as the possibility of changing a 78-acre piece of land, currently under the industrial PUD land use, to residential to allow for future residential growth in the Radisson PUD.
Supervisor Barry Bullis said he wasn’t necessarily against land use changes in the Radisson PUD but added that they shouldn’t be done on a spot basis, such as changing the land use to residential PUD for a property surrounded by industrial PUD.
The board decided to refer all matters discussed at the meeting to the Ad hoc committee.
Split vote on B&L contract
Lysander approved a $25,000 contract with Barton & Loguidice for additional services regarding the transfer of development rights program, which has not yet been adopted by the town.
The contract procures the expertise and guidance of Barton & Loguidice through the implementation of the TDR program should Lysander adopt the program. Officials noted that the town would recover a portion of the $25,000 from the state grant money, however the grant administration would not be recovered.
While Supervisor Bullis and councilors Art Levy and George Rowland voted for the proposal, both councilors Brian May and Rich Lesniak voted against it noting that the commitment was premature.
“I’m not ready to commit because I’m not sure if I support the program yet,” May said.
Lysander approves fire contract
A public hearing regarding the West Phoenix Fire Protection district contract for 2007 was held Thursday Dec. 22 at the Lysander Town Hall. After receiving no comments in regards to the hearing, the $79,423 contract was approved, contingent upon the town attorney’s approval.
Possible hotel planned for Radisson
A business-park and hotel with 75 to 85 rooms could be in the works for the Radisson area.
Route 31 Associates requested a land use change from industrial PUD to general commercial district for the 13-acre property at 2964 Belgium Road. Representatives from Route 31 Associates asked the board to gauge the likelihood of the project being approved, but officials were hesitant to approve the request due to a lack of researched information.
“Our concern isn’t really the office building, it’s the hotel,” Councilor Rich Lesniak added.
A public hearing regarding a land use change from commercial/office to residential in Radisson, at the corner of Willett Parkway and Deep Glade Drive, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday Feb. 8 at the Lysander Town Hall at 8220 Loop Road in Radisson.
A public hearing regarding the transfer of development rights program will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday Jan. 18 at the Lysander Town Hall.
