Baldwinsville: Boards in brief

Village invests in streetlights

The village board approved giving the mayor authorization to sign a contract with National Grid for municipal owned "energy only" streetlights.

Village owned streetlights have been installed in the past and have proven to save money. When the village owns streetlights, then residents pay only for the energy used rather than paying for both the energy and use of National Grid streetlights.

"It is much more cost effective for residents to own street lights rather than the utility company," said Trustee Richard Presley.

VB accepts Sun Meadows streets

The town of Van Buren has accepted Sun Meadows Way and Cross Country Drive, two streets in the Sun Meadows development, effective immediately. A $100,000 bond remains intact until the developer completes all punch list items (requirements that must be fulfilled in order to meet the town's standards for roads). According to town engineer Jim Billings, the $100,000 bond should easily cover the punch list items.
