New Manlius clerk-treasurer begins duties

Bryan Gazda takes oath

of office in village of Manlius

The village of Manlius recently welcomed new Clerk-Treasurer Bryan Gazda, who took the oath of office Monday at village hall.

"Everyone has been very nice," Gazda said. "It's been great."

Gazda, who worked as director of planning and development for nine months for the town of Manlius, was village administrator for the village of Canastota for almost six years. He attended high school in New Jersey and received his degree in management -- public administration from Empire State College.

Father of Benjamin, 23, a senior at SUNY Binghamton, Gazda lives in the town of Madison with his wife, Alyssa. In his spare time he enjoys fitness, cooking and reading.

"I think Bryan has a good background in working with development projects, which he did in Canastota," said village of Manlius Mayor Rick Penhall. "He worked for the canal system."

Penhall said Gazda is very competent. "I'm going to rely on his support."

Former Clerk-Treasurer Suzanne Snyder left the village to work for the village of Chittenango.

"Suzanne did a very good job reconciling the books and putting us back to a house in good order," Penhall said.

"She was very dedicated and it was a pleasure to work with her."
