Family and friends gathered to mourn the loss of a Fairmount firefighter Sunday. James Spraker, 26, was killed Wednesday in Pennsylvania when the tractor-trailer he was driving hit a guardrail.
Spraker served as lieutenant of the fire department for seven years.
Members of the department said he played a big role.
Jay Spraker was a firefighter's firefighter. He enjoyed the fire department as his second home. He made sure the members of the Fairmount Fire Department were properly trained and properly equipped to do their duties and take care of any incident that would come for them, Fairmount Fire Chief Larry Gilbert Jr. said.
Spraker was a 1998 graduate of West Genesee High School.
He is survived by his wife and two-month-old daughter.
